I just loved that line for that reason, because Steve knew how that turns out and he wanted to tell Tony that if he made that decision he wasn’t going to return.
But like I said in a previous post, unlike Steve, Tony came back and that’s something that impressed the hell out of Steve “Son of a gun” he says when he sees Tony fall out of that portal.
